Looking for Healthy Recipes?
If you’re setting a New Year’s Resolution this year to eat healthy, you’re probably searching for new recipes to try. I have always found that the hardest part about cleaning up your diet is finding meals that are healthy, simple to make, don’t require a bunch of new ingredients, and of course…actually taste good! There’s nothing I hate more than spending a bunch of money on weird ingredients, only to never use them again. Or worse, making a new complicated dish that is unbearable to eat.
I made my fair share of less-than-appealing healthy meals, until I found what felt like the recipe goldmine.
For the past 4 years or so, I’ve been getting my healthy recipes from Fit Men Cook, a site created by Kevin Curry. Some of my favorites over the years have included: chicken tortilla soup, lasagna rollups, BBQ mustard chicken, and many more!
What started as a food and fitness blog in 2012 has now become a supportive community of fellow Fit Men and Women, with the introduction of a mobile app, and, as of this month, a cookbook. As convenient as online recipes are, I knew I had to have the book as well. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to flip through the pages for some inspiration. My book arrived about a week ago, and I’ve already found several new favorites (such as the addicting sweet and spicy Deez Nuts). I know this book will be a staple in my kitchen in 2019!
What’s in the cookbook?
Not only does Kevin provide over 100 recipes in the Fit Men Cook book, but he also has an entire opening section dedicated to meal prep. So if meal prepping is not something you’ve tried in the past, this is the perfect introduction to a whole new way of healthy eating! Since he has gone through all of the struggles of figuring out a healthy lifestyle, he points potential pitfalls, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes!
The book has plenty of beginner recipes, and when you’re ready to venture out and try new things, there are intermediate level recipes as well. There are recipes for every meal and every taste preference – from carb conscious, to vegan, to keto – everything is well-labeled so you can pick out the recipes that suit your needs! The recipes are broken up into 9 sections: Breakfast, Poultry, Land & Sea, Salads/Soups/Sauces, Grass Fed AF (vegan), Comfort Food Makeovers, Sides, Sweets & Snacks, and Drinks.
